Great Ironman, poorly kept reservoir
Originally from Muncie and a volunteer for the Muncie Endurathon for eight years in the 1980s, I was excited to return to finally attempt my first-ever half Ironman. I brought along a friend to show off downtown Muncie, Prairie Creek Reservoir and the people who call it home. To my surprise, only one of these was a huge disappointment: Prairie Creek Reservoir. As a child, we loved playing at the Prairie Creek beach and the well-maintained playgrounds. It was in such disarray that whoever is in charge of this should be ashamed of themselves. The grass was recently cut, but it was like a hayfield. When I volunteered for the Endurathon in the '80s, Prairie Creek was immaculate. I spent Friday evening prior to the race at the campground apologizing to my friend about the condition the reservoir was in; I was embarrassed.Iron Man Race - News
