Sixty Years Apart-- Lightning Strikes Twice With Lumpe & Eierman
If you check all boys primary school class and ask, "What will you be when you grow up," you're likely to get many answers. There will be those who aspire to become astronauts, doctors, lawyers and cowboys, but there will be few who are still clinging to the dream of being a professional athlete, a basketball player, football player or a baseball player, as in Warsaw own Jerry Lumpe, or now, sixty years later, Johnny Eierman.Since then, Eierman had the opportunity to play with teams like the American Legion Post # 653 Sedalia, and the Midwest Nationals, an organization based in the Prime Minister was baseball in Springfield, MO, which allows players to develop playing elite competition across the country and the Bombers Sedalia, a summer baseball team that consists of college players who wish to develop their skills by playing the competition in preparation for entering the draft Major League Baseball. "It was a really hard decision for me," said Eierman. "The two options were very tempting.I could not go wrong with either choice. But at the end of the day, I was ready to play baseball full time. This has always been my dream and I never wanted to put myself in a situation where I look back and wonder, "what if". "" He also stayed at the club drafted me, "said Eierman." Before the project, I kind of had a list of my favorite clubs because of their organization and their history of development actors, and Tampa Bay was one of them. They have great coaches at all levels of their operating system and they focus on the progress of their young players."After his retirement, Lumpe returned to Springfield, Mo., to dabble in private business, but again got the baseball" bug "in 1971, when asked to be the first base coach and infield for the Oakland Athletics now. What he did for one season before deciding to finally hang up his boots for good and turn his attention to his family and the peaceful life in the Ozarks. But you never hear Lumpe complain that he missed on only the things he was fortunate to be part of.Scholarships awarded to River View students
